Everton looking to snap up German international

Everton are interested in signing Hertha Berlin left-back Marvin Plattenhardt this summer, according to Sky Sports.

The 26-year-old could be seen as a long-term replacement for club legend Leighton Baines who is edging towards the final stretch of his career.

Despite being just 26, Plattenhardt has already earned a wealth of experience at both Hertha Berlin and FC Nürnberg at the beginning of his career.

Baines was out injured for a large part of last season which meant that former Southampton defender Cuco Martina was forced to step in.

He has also featured for the German national side at every level from Under-17 level to the full national squad where he has made six appearances.

It’s set to be a big summer for the full-back as he has also been named in the German squad who have flown out to the World Cup in Russia.
