Ndiaye set for Everton return as contract stand-off awaits resolution

Iliman Ndiaye is expected back at Finch Farm in the coming days following Senegal’s exit from the World Cup

With him comes an unresolved question David Moyes and Everton will need to answer before the season starts: what happens with his contract?

Talks between Everton and Ndiaye’s representatives have dragged on since the turn of the year, with the forward turning down multiple extension offers.

The sticking point, according to The Athletic, is a release clause his camp want built into any new deal — something the club have so far resisted.

Ndiaye is contracted until 2029, which gives Everton leverage and no urgent need to sell, but it hasn’t stopped Tottenham, Man Utd and Man City all being credited with interest.

Sources close to the club have described Everton’s position as “relaxed” rather than stressed, with the size of any potential fee seen as a natural deterrent to a summer move.

Even so, the longer the impasse continues without a resolution, the more it risks becoming a running distraction through pre-season — particularly if Ndiaye’s own comments about wanting Champions League football resurface once he’s back in front of the media.

Moyes has previously called Ndiaye “the last person I would consider selling.”

Whether that stance survives a full summer of contract wrangling may become clearer once face-to-face talks resume properly.
