Everton have not approached Mourinho

Everton have not approached Jose Mourinho about succeeding Roberto Martinez at Goodison Park, according to Sky Sports.

The Blues had reportedly sounded out the Portuguese manager, who has been out of work since Chelsea sacked him in December, over the weekend.

That is apparently not the case, but last month Mourinho said he was open to any job that may be presented to him.

He told Sky Sports:

I am not in a position to turn [jobs] down, I am in a position to analyse. I am in a position to be open to any club or national team.

I have to be honest, if possible I would prefer a club but I must analyse to see what is best for my career and to be back with everything I have. I would prefer [to be in England]. I love the country, I love the football here, my family is very stable and happy.

The former Chelsea and Inter Milan boss is reportedly keen to succeed Louis Van Gaal at Manchester United, but it’s not known if the Dutchman will leave Old Trafford after the F.A Cup Final.

Though his next job is still anyone’s guess, Mourinho did say last week that he would be returning to management in July:

I don’t know. I know nothing about it really. I don’t have a club. In July, I will be back. So we are in May. May to July is nothing.

I keep enjoying my life which I’m doing, keep enjoying my family. But in July I am back.

Everton have been linked with a whole host of managers over the last few days, with Frank De Boer, Ronald Koeman and the aforementioned Mourinho all rumoured to be among Farhad Moshiri’s list of targets.
