Everton offer money plus Tosun for Zaha, but is that a good deal?

Everton have told Crystal Palace that they would be willing to offer £60million plus Cenk Tosun in order to sign Wilfried Zaha, but is this a good move for the club?

Zaha has been heavily linked with Arsenal this past month, although Everton have seemingly thrown their hat in the ring this past week. The Toffees are pushing hard to sign the Ivory Coast international, who himself is keen to move on and take up a new challenge.

According to the Telegraph, Everton would be willing to offer the Eagles a sizeable fee plus Tosun, who struggled to make an impact last season and had interest Palace in January, in order to get a deal done.

However, the Blues are concerned that they could miss out to Chelsea, who despite being under a transfer ban are weighing up whether to buy Zaha now for him to join them when their embargo lifts next summer, which would also suit Palace who don’t want to lose their best player.

According to the Telegraph’s report, Zaha is also aware of Chelsea interest, although the club haven’t yet made a move.

Whereas reports earlier this week suggested that Zaha would prefer a move to Everton than to remain with Palace, the forward is also keen on Champions League football and so he could be prepared to wait until next year if Chelsea have their offer accepted now.

Zaha is an interesting target for Everton, and it is clear that he is being targeted as a major money marquee signing from Marcel Brands, Marco Silva and Farhad Moshiri to show that the club mean business.

Everton need to fill a number of positions this summer, and there aren’t many more days for them to do so, and so I do question whether spending £60million on a forward is necessary.

However Everton are in desperate need for more goals in their team, and an expensive forward would certainly add more goals. If the Toffees can afford that big a transfer fee, and they also have the resources to strengthen elsewhere, then it’ll be interesting to see if Everton can land their big fish.
