Everton priced out of deal to sign Celtic defender Tierney in the summer

Everton were priced out of a summer move to sign Celtic defender Kieran Tierney, according to reports.

The Liverpool Echo claims that Everton opted against a deal for Tierney when they discovered just how much they may need to pay for the player.

Marco Silva’s side were searching for a new left-back this summer in a bid to provide competition for the experienced Leighton Baines.

The club would go on to splash the cash on Barcelona’s Lucas Digne, who has impressed since joining the club.

A host of Premier League sides have shown an interest in Tierney in the past, but Everton’s appeared the most concrete during the most recent summer transfer window.

Celtic have been determined not to lose the player on the cheap after growing interest in the player.

Tierney has been a standout performer for the club since Brendan Rodgers took charge and has been linked with the likes of Manchester United and Tottenham in the past.
