Everton reach stumbling block in negotiations for international defender

Reports surrounding Frank Fabra’s proposed move from Boca Juniors to Everton are beginning to conflict, with recent claims now suggesting that the Toffees are somewhat short of the Argentine club’s valuation of the player.

It was reported yesterday that Everton had apparently reached an agreement with Boca over a move for Colombia international Fabra, with a fee set at just around £4.3m.

However fresh reports from Extra, a news source in Argentina, claim that the Toffees have not yet concluded a deal with Boca due to an ongoing disagreement over Fabra’s valuation.

The report states that Boca are now demanding a fee worth just under £9 million for their left-back, who has been in good form for his side this season.

Everton are known to be keen on recruiting a left-back this summer having failed to do so in the January transfer window. Leighton Baines is back to full fitness but there is little cover, with the experienced defender approaching his mid-30s.

Napoli have been linked with a move for Fabra in recent months but it seems, despite Extra’s claims of an impasse in negotiations between the club and Boca, Everton lead the race for the 27-year-old.
