Everton ready to compromise on Barkley’s price tag

Tottenham Hotspur are preparing to step up their interest in Everton midfielder Ross Barkley, with the Toffees now willing to compromise on their £50million price tag according to the Independent.

Barkley has just one year left on his contract at Goodison Park and is now set to sign a new one. Everton are keen to cash in on him now to avoid losing him for free next summer.

So far Tottenham and Everton have been unable to agree a fee for Barkley, with Everton wanting to hold out for £50million but Tottenham’s board arguing that this is an unrealistic fee for someone in their last year of their contract.

After already completing the signing of attacking midfielder Davy Klaasen and also working hard on a deal to take Gylfi Sigurdsson from Swansea, Everton look likely to compromise with Spurs over the fee for Barkley in the coming weeks.

Mauricio Pochettino is a long term admirer or Barkley and believes he can get the most out of the England international.
