Everton see £27m Sigurdsson bid rejected

Everton have had a bid in the region of £27 million rejected by fellow Premier League club Swansea City for their key man Gylfi Sigurdsson, reports ESPN.

The Icelandic international was the catalyst at the centre of a Swansea side who managed to escape relegation from the top-flight.

After the sacking of former boss Bob Bradley with the Welsh side in relegation trouble, an inspiring appointment in Paul Clement saw the tables turn at the Liberty Stadium, which helped Swansea defy the odds and retain their Premier League status.

The man in the middle of Swansea’s heroics was no doubt 27-year-old midfielder Sigurdsson, who has been linked with a host of potential suitors, however, Swansea are desperate to hold on to their magic man, as they prepare for next season.

Sigurdsson’s nine goals and 13 assists set Swansea on their way to survival, and it does not come as a surprise that he is now a wanted man.

Former club Tottenham are also reportedly interested in Sigurdsson, but after his previous stint there failed, it would seem unlikely for him to return to Spurs.

Everton have proven they are not afraid to spend money this summer, having already spent a combined £53.6m on Ajax captain Davy Klaasen and Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.
