Everton set to make move for World Cup defensive midfield star

Everton manager Marco Silva is eyeing a move for Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria, according to James Nursey of The Mirror.

The 21-year-old, who was part of Switzerland’s World Cup squad, only joined Monchengladbach for £8m from Young Boys last summer, so Everton will need to make a significant bid in order to tempt the Bundesliga into selling.

Zakaria is only one year into a five-year contract with Monchengladbach but that has not stopped Everton from scouting him as Silva looks for more players who could be good fits in the 4-3-3 system which he seemingly intends to use at Goodison Park this year.

Everton, who are set to confirm the arrival of Richarlison from Watford, will continue to be active in the transfer market between now and early August as Silva tried to build a squad that is capable of pushing Everton on towards European qualification.
