Everton star seals transfer away from the club

Midfielder Davy Klaassen has completed a move from Everton to Bundesliga side Werder Bremen.

The Toffees signed Klaassen only last summer under the supervision of Ronald Koeman, who had been a long-term admirer of the midfielder following his time managing in the Eredivisie.

Klaassen joined Everton on a long-term contract after the club agreed a deal believed to be worth £23.6 million with Ajax for the permanent transfer.

However, it wasn’t plain sailing for the Dutchman in his debut campaign in English football, as he struggled to establish himself in the first-team plans at Goodison Park under three different managers.

The Netherlands international underwent a medical in Germany on Thursday afternoon ahead of his proposed move to join Bremen, and there were no last-minute stumbling blocks involved in the deal.

Klaassen will be hoping to rejuvenate his career in the Bundesliga after a disappointing, short-lived stint in the Premier League.
