Everton star signs bumper new five-year contract

Quite why Everton didn’t make an official announcement about Idrissa Gueye’s new contract is a mystery but, according to the FA, the Senegalese star did put pen-to-paper on a new deal back in October, one that sees him earning £75,000-a-week.

The 28-year-old has earned rave reviews since arriving at Aston Villa in August 2016 and his performances have earned him a new, improved contract.

When he first arrived from Villa Park, Gueye signed a four year contract, but his new five-year deal means he’s now under contract until 2022.

The Senegalese international, who is set to play in this summer’s World Cup, has been the subject of transfer speculation for a few months with the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United apparently keen to sign him and if he has a good World Cup, interest is likely to increase.

Therefore, the news of this new contract will be received warmly by Everton fans.
