Everton target Maja rejects Sunderland contract

Everton transfer target Josh Maja has rejected the chance to sign a new contract at Sunderland this week.

According to Sky Sports, Sunderland offered Maja seven times his current salary, but he has turned down the contract.

The report claims that Maja had told manager Jack Ross on Thursday that he wanted to stay on Wearside, but appears to have now made a U-turn on his decision as he seeks an exit from the club.

Sky Sports claim that Huddersfield, Crystal Palace and Cardiff are all interested in a deal for the prolific young forward, along with Everton.

The 20-year-old has scored 15 goals for Sunderland in all competitions this season, with 14 of them coming in League One.

Sunderland are currently third in the table and looking to secure promotion back to the Championship, but may now have to replace their top scorer.

Marco Silva wants to sign a new striker this month to bolster his squad.
