Feyenoord and Turkey international playmaker Orkun Kökcü has opened up to Voetbal International about the interest in his services, as well as his career ambitions – offering encouragement to Everton amid interest in the player.
The 2-cap 20-year-old Kökcü was the subject of interest from Arsenal and Everton last year, as Sky Sports reported.
Adding further Premier League suitors into the mix, Leicester City and Leeds United are also credited in the interview as two other parties that were keen on signing the breakout dynamo.
Speaking to the Dutch publication, the Turkish maestro made no secret of his desire to play at a higher level in an ambitious and frank interview:
“I still have a contract until 2025, but the situation has changed. Feyenoord have been very open about the financial situation, and it is clear that the club is ending up in the minus.
“If a club comes to me with a good story and Feyenoord can make money from it, I can imagine that I will listen to it.”

It seems Everton could leverage Feyenoord’s financial situation to secure a long-term creative spark in Kökcü with the potential to replace the 31-year-old Gylfi Sigurdsson.
WhoScored note the young Turk’s strengths as dribbling, concentrating, long shots and set-pieces. It appears he drops deeper and assists in Feyenoord’s build-up play.
With just two goals and one assist in the Eredivisie, he is not exactly causing defences to shudder, but his goal output alone does not do his abilities justice.
He is more of a traditional no.10 according to his strengths, and Kökcü could nonetheless be a useful long-term option for Everton.
