Everton target Zivkovic set ‘to cancel’ Benfica contract

Former Everton target Andrija Zivkovic is set to rip up his contract at Benfica, according to reports.

The Serbian winger has been linked with Everton on a number of occasions in the past, with the Toffees being quoted £31million to secure his services just last June.

The 23-year old hasn’t played a single game for the Portuguese giants this season so far, and Record claim that after being frozen out, the forward is attempting to have his contract terminated.

With his contract not expiring until 2021, it is believed that Benfica will not allow him to simply leave on a free transfer, not when they believe they can make money from his transfer.

The report claims that Benfica will entertain both permanent and loan offers.

Given Everton’s injury situation at Goodison Park right now, they could do much worse than explore Zivkovic as a potential option.

Bernard is currently on the sidelines for an indeterminate amount of time, and the Toffees would benefit from strengthening their options from width.

At just 23, Zivkovic has plenty of room to continue growing and improving on Merseyside, while he’d also add needed quality immediately.
