Charlie Adam has questioned some of Everton’s summer transfer business, claiming he doesn’t “see it”.
The Toffees have endured a tough time so far this season, with expectations clearly not having been met after the club spent so much money in the summer.
Everton had been considered to be a club who could potentially break into the top six this season, particularly after their summer business, but the club’s fortunes have been quite the opposite.

Sat in 17th place, Everton are just two points above the relegation zone and with Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal and Manchester City to come in the next five weeks, the Blues could very well be in the bottom three very soon.
One of the biggest issues that the club have faced this season has been players underperforming, £27million summer signing Moise Kean has been one such player, so far failing to score for the Blues in 12 appearances.
Talking to BBC Radio 5 Live (via HITC), former Liverpool and Stoke midfielder Adam took aim at the signings of both Kean and Alex Iwobi as having been a “waste” for the Blues. Adam said:
For me, there is just so many rumblings going on at Everton. It’s a similar situation to Arsenal. Is it Moshiri? Is it Bill Kenwright? Is it Marcel Brands? One wants this manager, one wants another manager. At the moment, they might not even have a clue as to who will come in to replace him.
I think they have to make a decision [on Silva] and I think it will be after this game on Wednesday night. If it doesn’t go to plan then the manager will change. They have spent an absolute fortune. I think the club is in a place where it’s unhappy
There’s a massive imbalance in the squad. They have so many number 10’s. Iwobi, I don’t know where it comes from? [his signing]. Moise Kean, I don’t know where it comes from. I don’t see it. The money that they spent and the waste it’s incredible. Moshiri will be saying, ‘what is going on?’. This is Marcel Brands’ man and he will back him as long as he can.

Adam’s statement is bizarre, because it is very clear to see where the respective transfer came from.
Kean hasn’t panned out well so far, but it is clear to see that with Everton lacking forward options, why they spent big on a highly rated starlet with high potential. Whether it has worked or not, the signing on paper makes perfect sense.
Regarding Alex Iwobi, not only does the signing make sense as Everton wanted more pace and creativity in their final third, but he has also proved to be a decent acquisition so far. While Silva has dropped him to the bench on several occasions, that has largely frustrated fans, as the Nigerian has done well in behind the striker. I’m not sure why Adam has taken aim at the former Arsenal man.
