FA Cup game with Liverpool to be played on a Friday night

Everton’ FA Cup Third round clash away to Liverpool will be played on Friday January 5th, according to Ben Rumsby of the Telegraph.

The game has been moved to Friday night by broadcasters and will be shown live on the BBC.

Certain fixtures during the Third Round of the FA Cup will be used to stage live trials of Video Assistant Referees (VAR), however, the Merseyside Derby has apparently been deemed too high-profile of contest to conduct English football’s first live VAR test, so that honour will go to the ‘M23 Derby’ between Brighton and Crystal Palace.

Elsewhere, Fleetwood Town or Hereford v Leicester City, Norwich City v Chelsea, Shrewsbury v West Ham United and Nottingham Forest v Arsenal have also been moved and will be shown live on either the BBC or on BT Sport.
