Many Everton fans were quick to poke fun at a notable error made by Andre Gomes – but it did not take place on the pitch.
Instead, Twitter was the forum for an innocent mistake in which the Portuguese midfielder mistakenly claimed that Everton’s next game – a clash with Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday night – takes place on Sunday.
? Huge 3 points on the road against a very tough side! On Sunday another big challenge is waiting for us! Don’t stop lads!#COYB @Everton pic.twitter.com/UQtVlYHMc5

In an act of cool composure, Gomes laughed off his mistake when he was light-heartedly corrected by some Everton fans for the mix-up.
You're absolutely right lads! The game's on Saturday… My mind still was on yesterday’s victory ?

Converting his error into a display of a dedicated and professional mentality, Gomes laughed off the mistake in a tweet which ultimately garnered a positive focus on his individual performance against Leeds last night.
These Everton fans took to Twitter to take a benign pop at the 27-year-old over the fixture confusion…
Twitter: @aftgomes Great Performance last night Andre who cares what day it is when you play like that. Keep it up Andre and… https://t.co/UEAIqicsm6 (@daveblueallover)
Twitter: @aftgomes I don’t know what day it is either mate. Every day is the same. (@EvertonDesigns)
Twitter: @aftgomes Just tell Bruno Fernandes it’s Sunday, hopefully he won’t turn up then
