Farhad Moshiri strengthens grip on Everton with increase in shares

Everton’s major shareholder Farhad Moshiri has taken a larger stake in the club.

Paul Joyce of The Times announced that the Iranian business mogul had increased his share from 49.9% of the club to 68.6% – and that’s a figure set to rise further.

Rising to 77.2% no later than July of next year, Moshiri had been in discussions with long-time investors Bill Kenwright and Jon Woods.

Kenwright will retain a 5% share of the club.

Moshiri had initially made his foray into English football with an ownership stake in Arsenal, which he took with his business partner Alisher Usmanov in 2007.

Selling his percentage in 2016, Moshiri took his money north and invested in Everton, keen to vault the Merseysiders to the dizzying heights of Champions League glory.

The Monaco-based businessman continues his takeover of Everton with today’s developments, which could prove polarising amongst the fans.
