Flamengo rejected Everton’s €30m Reinier bid – should they renew their interest?

Everton reportedly saw a €30 million bid to sign Brazilian teenage sensation Reinier rejected by Flamengo this summer.

According to Yahoo Esportes, the player was a target for the Toffees this past summer, but a deal could not be finalised.

Everton were said to be offering big money for the player, who would’ve had to stay in Brazil until January 2020 – but Flamengo were not interested in selling.

Flamengo didn’t even want to continue the conversation and already ruled it out right away.

Should the Toffees renew their interest in the player either in January or next summer?

This is going to be a tough one for Everton to get over the line if they are still interested in a deal.

The report goes on to add that after rejecting the bid, Flamengo got straight to work on trying to tie the player down to a new deal.

Once that is resolved, you can imagine that Everton face the prospect of paying much more in any potential swoop.

Reinier is set to feature in the U17s World Cup later this year and if he can catch the eye there, interest in his services will only continue to rise.

With Liverpool also mentioned as potential suitors, there will no doubt be plenty of teams keeping their eyes on his development over the coming months.

Unfortunately for Everton, this may be one player that has got away from them.
