Galloway withdraws from England squad

Brendan Galloway has had to withdraw from the England U21 squad, according to the Liverpool Echo.

The young starlet picked up a knee problem against Manchester City and had to be taken off before half-time, but still harboured hopes of being fit for international duty.

But the 19-year-old, who can play at left-back or centre-half, pulled out of the squad today after failing to recover from his knock.

When asked about Galloway’s injury, Roberto Martinez told the Liverpool Echo:

“He picked up a patella tendon problem that we’ll assess in the next 24 to 48 hours. It’s probably more to do with his age and the fact he’s still growing rather than a structural injury.”

Everton haven’t had the greatest luck with injuries to their left-backs this season, Leighton Baines has been ruled out for a few months with an ankle problem, Bryan Oviedo is still attempting to reach full fitness, Luke Garbutt picked up an ankle injury on loan at Fulham and now Galloway is on the treatment table.

The MK Dons youth graduate will stay at Finch Farm to recover and prepare for Everton’s game against Chelsea on September 12th.
