JP Gbamin has hailed the atmosphere at Goodison Park, claiming the noise that the Everton fans create makes the players want to “got to war” for them.
The £25million summer signing is currently on the sidelines for Everton are he recovers from a muscle injury suffered in training following Everton’s second game of the season against Watford.
The Ivory Coast international was brought in as Idrissa Gueye’s replacement after the midfielder left for Paris Saint-Germain earlier this summer, but he has yet to really get going, and is set to spend at least eight weeks waiting to return to action.
However, the 23-year old has already been impressed with the atmosphere at Goodison Park this season. Talking to the match-day programme, as reported by Liverpool Echo, Gbamin said:
Having the connection with the supporters is very important, hearing the fans like they are at Goodison makes us feel like we can go to war.
It is great to have that support as a player, both when you are winning or having a difficult time. It drives you on to keep going and do even better.
There is very high quality in this team and, with the fans behind us like they are, we can do great things this year. I will do everything I can to help us do that.

It has been a target for Everton for a while now to get Goodison Park back to the place it was at before ,where opposing teams feel intimidated and the Everton players are spurred on by the crowd.
In 2019, this has largely been a resounding success, and having only conceded two goals at home since February (both against Wolves on Sunday) it has been reflective in the club’s results.
If Gbamin is noticing the improved atmosphere, then hopefully both the away players are suffering to the bear pit intimidation tactics, and the home players are being encouraged to up their game and fight for the shirt too.
