Everton have confirmed that Andre Gomes has been discharged from hospital following successful surgery on his ankle.
The 26-year old midfielder suffered a fractured dislocation of his right ankle after being tackled by Tottenham forward Heung-min Son on Sunday, and the horrific injury had looked particularly worrisome for the Portugal international.
While Everton have not provided a timelines for his return, with Gomes’ foot facing in the wrong direction, many have speculated that the midfielder will certainly miss the rest of the season and may not be back until 2021 in worse case scenarios.

In positive news for Gomes, Everton have described the midfielder’s surgery as having gone “extremely well”, with the player now set to continue his rehabilitation process with the club’s medical team at Finch Farm.
In the mean time, Everton have just Tom Davies, Fabian Delph and Morgan Schneiderlin available as deeper midfield options, with JP Gbamin still on the sidelines until January.
