Jamie Carragher heaps praise on young Everton duo

Former Liverpool defender and current Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher has heaped plenty of praise on young Everton duo Jonjoe Kenny and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Both players have been heavily involved with the first team so far this season under Marco Silva and Carragher has been impressed with what he has seen from both players.

Kenny has been called upon in the right-back position after Seamus Coleman picked up an injury and he managed to provide an assist for Gylfi Sigurdsson as the Toffees fell to a 3-1 defeat against West Ham.

Kenny loves to go up the right flank and without the ball, he is tenacious and loves to make a challenge.

As quoted on the official club website, Carragher said:

I really like him. He is your typical Scouse full-back, very aggressive, takes no prisoners but he also has quality going forward. You can see what it means to him playing for Everton. The traditions of Everton are that they always have those types of players.

Tony Hibbert played right back for a long time and did a great job for Everton. It is great you have those types of players. He has made a great start to his Everton career. He has a long way to go but it bodes well.

Carragher also couldn’t help but praise Calvert-Lewin, who scored a brace against Rotherham in the Carabao Cup and also against Huddersfield Town in the Premier League this season.

He said:

I like Calvert-Lewin a lot, too. He has a great presence. I saw him in town and had a picture with him, I was looking up to him, the size of him!

He was in that team that won the Under-20 World Cup, along with Kenny, and he has done very well, a great signing for Everton. I think he has a great future.
