Everton are likely to be without midfielder Jean-Philippe Gbamin for the rest of the season after he picked up an Achilles injury in training.
The midfielder was a £25m summer acquisition by the Toffees as they looked for a replacement for Idrissa Gueye who was sold to Paris Saint-Germain.
However, he made just two appearances for the Blues at the start of the season before he suffered an injury in the build-up to the clash with Aston Villa in August.
He then suffered another setback when he had to have surgery on his thigh in February and that looked like it would keep him out for the entire 2019/20 campaign.
However, the recent delay to the Premier League games meant that the Ivorian had his sights set on a return to action, but that plan has now been scuppered after he picked up the Achilles injury at Finch Farm, and Everton fear that it could need to be surgically repaired.

There was a fair bit of excitement in the air when Everton signed Gbamin last summer, but fans have hardly seen the Ivorian kick a ball in anger.
It is deeply unfortunate that he’s picked up another serious injury and if surgery is required, there’s a chance he could miss the start of next season too.
That could very well impact Everton’s summer spending ideas as Carlo Ancelotti’s original plans would have been made with the expectation of Gbamin being back fit and available.
Now that’s looking unlikely, the Italian manager will not only have to plan to play his club’s remaining nine games without the midfielder, but he will need to alter his ideas for the start of the 2020/2021 campaign too
