Everton teenager Jonathan Nsangou has been named by The Guardian as one of the best young prospects at Premier League clubs.
The 16-year-old forward has been selected for the newspaper’s Next Generation 2026 list. This is where they pick out one emerging talent from each of the 20 top-flight clubs.
For Everton, this recognition comes at an interesting time. Nsangou has just been given his first taste of Moyes’s senior setup and marked it memorably.
Nsangou’s promising week continues
The teenager was given 45 minutes in Friday’s behind-closed-doors friendly against Blackburn at the Hill Dickinson. It was his first involvement at senior level.
He made the most of the opportunity, scoring Everton’s late equaliser in the reported 3-3 draw after being played through by Jack Grealish.
That was already a significant moment in Nsangou’s development. Being selected by The Guardian as Everton’s representative among the outstanding prospects at Premier League academies adds another little landmark to what has been a notable few days.
There is inevitably a long way to go for a player still only 16, and Moyes will be well aware of the need to manage expectations around any youngster beginning the transition towards senior football.
But Nsangou has certainly made himself difficult to ignore.
First came 45 minutes alongside established senior players and a goal created by Grealish. Now comes national recognition as one of the Premier League’s brightest emerging talents.
For a 16-year-old at the beginning of his journey, that’s not a bad few days.
