Kevin Phillips Tips Isco to Make Merseyside Move

Former Premier League Golden Boot winner Kevin Phillips has claimed that “any player in the world” would be interested in joining Carlo Ancelotti’s Everton after Real Madrid star Isco was linked with a move to Goodison Park.

The creative playmaker has managed 51 goals and 54 assists at Real Madrid since joining from Malaga in 2013, where he has made 312 appearances to date and won the Champions League four times.

The Spaniard could clearly add to Everton’s goal threat, and at 28 years old, he still retains good value and prolific years ahead of him.

In an exclusive interview with Football Insider, Phillips has backed Isco to make the move to Merseyside, saying:

“It just goes to show the pull of Carlo Ancelotti.

“Any player in the world watching the start that Everton have made this season and watching the football they have played would be interested in joining them.

“They have got some great players – Rodriguez, Allan, Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who is on fire, and one of the best managers in the world.

“For a player of that calibre to want to join your club, if I am an Everton fan I would be excited.

“A lot of it has to do with the manager, he would be a big influence if Isco ends up at Goodison Park in January.”

Ancelotti has previously worked with the 28-year-old during his time at Real but was reluctant to give a straight answer when asked about any desire to be reunited with the player at Goodison Park.

Ancelotti claimed: “Isco is a fantastic player and [I have] a fantastic memory of him but now I am not, honestly, focused there. I am focused on an important week we are going to have to recover players and to be well prepared for the game against United.”

Phillips’ claims are unsurprising given Isco’s fantastic record.

The Spaniard could certainly add a lot to Ancelotti’s side, which may prove vital in the months to come as Everton seek a strong Premier League finish. This may yet turn out to be one of the more notable winter transfer sagas.
