Everton midfielder Davy Klaassen has admitted that he must step up in the near future.
The Netherlands international has been discussing his start to life in the Premier League, and was well aware that he needs to improve his performance to nail down a place in Ronald Koeman’s starting line-up.
Signed for a hefty fee this summer from Ajax, expectations of the Dutchman were high. Although he hasn’t been in particularly bad form for Everton, he has flattered to deceive so far, and will be keen to show his true credentials soon.
As quoted by the Mirror, Klaassen spoke of his desire to adapt quicker to the Premier League.
It is different speed, different intentions. That is what I wanted. I wanted something else, and it is something bigger.
Playing in Europe helps every player. We face different cultures of playing in. The results have not been good but I like the life and the club and my team mates.
I am enjoying it. I need to improve, everyone needs to improve and we will be there.
The former Ajax man will look to push on following a disappointing 3-0 home loss to Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, and will look to open his account in English football against Manchester United on Sunday afternoon.
