Klaassen reiterates desire to remain on Merseyside

Everton midfielder Davy Klaassen appears to have reiterated his desire to remain with the club ahead of next season, in light of reported interest from abroad.

The former Ajax captain told the Liverpool Echo several weeks ago that he wanted to stay and fight to prove himself, and he appears to have repeated these claims, according to Turkish outlet SporX.

Having failed to make much of a positive impact last season, many expected Klaassen to head the list of outgoing players, having ‘flopped’ when comparing impact to his £23.6million price tag the club paid.

Several reports in the weeks following the season’s end have linked Klaassen with a move to Besiktas in Turkey. While some are claiming a loan switch is in the pipeline, others claim Everton would look to shift him permanently.

Now though, SporX have reported the new quotes that show Klaassen’s desire to prove his worth on Merseyside. According to the outlet, Klaassen said:

Coming to Everton was the right choice for me.

A club full of passion, suitable for my game style. I feel like I’m at home.

I can’t wait to start the new season in Everton.

It all depends on where Klaassen fits in Marco Silva’s plans, but Evertonians will surely be keen to see the Dutchman prove himself if he truly does have the ability to do so.
