Leipzig ready to spend €22m on Lookman – should Everton accept?

RB Leipzig are reportedly ready to spend €22 million on signing Ademola Lookman from Everton, but should the Toffees accept such an offer?

According to claims from German source Kicker, the Bundesliga club are prepared to spend big to lure the promising forward away from Goodison Park this summer.

Lookman was used sparingly by Marco Silva throughout last season, raising speculation surrounding whether or not he will be at the club for the 2019/20 campaign.

Leipzig were keen to recruit the youngster last summer but were unsuccessful in their efforts. This time around, however, they may have more luck in their pursuit of the former Charlton Athletic front-man.

Lookman will be determined to make his mark in first-team football next season, and in truth, since his switch to Everton, he has failed to cement his place in the senior side.

Leipzig are allegedly offering a reasonable sum of money. In today’s market, it is debatable that the Toffees could demand a premium price for the England Under-21 international, but it is difficult to see a future for him at the club under the current management.

Lookman enjoyed success during his spell in Germany on loan. When he played for Leipzig, he scored five goals from 11 outings in the second half of the 2017/18 campaign, highlighting his ability to adjust to the Bundesliga.

Selling the youngster would be a shame, but in strengthening Everton’s transfer budget and handing the player a chance to revitalise himself elsewhere, it could be the best move for both parties.
