Lookman could be handed start against Newcastle

Ademola Lookman could be in line for his first Premier League start of the season against Newcastle on Wednesday evening.

The forward has appeared as a substitute in eight league contests so far this season, most recently in the Merseyside derby against Liverpool.

Speaking in his press conference ahead of the clash with the Magpies, Everton boss Marco Silva is quoted as saying:

He [Lookman] did well, 30 minutes against Liverpool and he is more than ready to start tomorrow’s match.

We don’t have much time to recover from the last match so hopefully we will have more time to prepare in the future.

It is possible I make some changes.

As the festive period approaches and the games start coming thick and fast, it is likely that players on the fringes like Lookman will receive chances to impress both Silva and the Toffees faithful.

A strong performance, and a young Evertonian could find himself included in the team’s plans for the rest of the season.

matchday.
