Sevilla have confirmed the signing of former reported Everton target Rony Lopes, with the Portugal international penning a five-year deal in Andalusia.
The 23-year old attacking midfielder had been linked with Everton in the final days of the transfer window, with deals for Wilfried Zaha and Alex Iwobi hanging in the balance.
The former Manchester City academy product had previously claimed that he wanted to eventually return to the Premier League, and all of Everton, West Ham and Newcastle were reportedly committed to helping him achieve that in the last window.

However, nothing materialised for Everton’s part, and now the target has completed his summer switch, making any potential interest Everton may have had in January now pretty futile.

This is a story worth covering on here, but equally it isn’t one that I would lend too much credence to. I’m not really sure if Everton had any legitmate interest in Lopes, we certainly never saw it being reported from the more reputable Everton-based journalists.
Either way, Lopes is now a player out of Everton’s reach for the time being. It’s unclear if the Blues will be back in for Wilf Zaha but I think that’s what a lot of us want, so I’m fine with no Lopes interest with other targets still to be pursued.
