Lossl could be in contention to face Lincoln – Should he start for Everton?

Everton are hopeful that Jonas Lossl will be fit to face Lincoln City on Wednesday, but should the Dane start for the Blues?

The summer signing was not named on the bench against Aston Villa last Friday due to a muscle issue, with Everton subsequently named Maarten Stekelenburg as their back-up goalkeeper.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Everton don’t see Lossl’s injury keeping him out for long, and they hope he could be available to face The Imps in the Carabao Cup tomorrow.

Everton faced Lincoln in the FA Cup back in January, and Marco Silva won’t want to take it easy on the League One side, having struggled to fend off the then League Two side last season.

I was one of the fans who was most excited about Lossl’s signing, or at least as excited as one can be over a back-up goalkeeper. For me, Stekelenburg isn’t up to scratch, and I don’t trust him in goal, so a stronger and better alternative for free was a great deal.

However, I’m not sure I want the Denmark international starting against Lincoln tomorrow.

It has been so long since Everton last won a trophy, and that wait will only likely end once we take the cup seriously and field our strongest side. Lossl would probably do fine, but I want Pickford to start.
