‘Lukaku is focused on Everton’ – Mirallas

Romelu Lukaku is completely focused and committed to Everton according to Belgium and Everton teammate Kevin Mirallas.

In an interview with Sky Sports Mirallas revealed that he believes after a summer of uncertainty and speculation Lukaku is ready to focus on the team and fight for the club.

I know there’s been a lot of speculation about him but Romelu is focused with the team, focused with the club and I hope he scores this weekend.

Lukaku has been linked with a move back to Chelsea, the club who brought the powerful striker to the Premier League, however, it seems that he will not be leaving the club in this transfer window and has committed his future, at least in the short term, to Everton.

Lukaku himself all but ended the speculation himself as, according to manager Ronald Koeman, he came to see him before the West Brom victory to inform him of his decision to stay for at least one more season.

This will be a huge boost to the club and fans especially after inevitably losing hot prospect John Stones to Manchester City earlier in the summer for a record fee. Lukaku is widely regarded as one of the most important players in this Everton squad with teammates and managers singing his praises for the time he’s been at the club.

The club is still looking at finding a partner for the Belgian goal machine with Deportivo’s Lucas Perez linked, although Arsenal look set to capture him just ahead of Everton with promises of Champions League football. As Champions League football is such an attraction for players in today’s market Everton may need to see themselves at least challenging for those spots to cement targets in future windows and to keep players of the quality of Lukaku.
