Marcelino rejected an approach from Everton to replace Marco SIlva last month, according to reports.
The Spanish manager, who was sacked from his post with Valencia earlier this season after falling out with the club’s owner, has been linked with the Toffees in the past week.
Silva is now on the brink of being sacked following three consecutive Premier League losses, the latest of which was a 5-2 thrashing against Liverpool at Anfield.

Marcelino has emerged as a target for both Everton and Arsenal in recent weeks, with the manager being no attached a major bonus for interested parties.
According to Goal though, Everton have already been in contact with the 54-year old before this week, with Marcelino having rejected the Toffees about a month ago, as well as an offer from Sporting Lisbon.
The report does claim that Everton could still approach Marcelino again when they sack Silva, while they also state that the Spaniard is high on Arsenal’s radar.

Until Marco Silva is sacked, it is difficult to predict how Everton are going to respond in their hunt for a new manager.
Personally, I can’t see anyone other than Moyes taking over, but I would very much enjoy being proved wrong, so long as someone that would represent some club ambition is brought in instead.
Marcelino rejecting Everton makes sense because of the club’s horrible league position, but money talks, and if the Blues returned with an offer it would be interesting to see how things could pan out.
