Marco Silva hoping Everton can sign Andre Gomes permanently

Marco Silva is already eyeing up the possibility of bringing Andre Gomes to Everton on a permanent basis next season.

The on-loan Barcelona midfielder has impressed during his short stint at Goodison Park, bringing great quality in the middle of the park.

He is only contracted to be at Everton until next summer, but that may change if Barca agree to let him leave.

Silva told the Liverpool Echo that there is no rush in terms of nailing Gomes down to a permanent deal, but hinted that he is keen to make it happen:

I think in the right moment we have to do something to achieve one player like Andre.

We have time to do that. We are happy with him, he is enjoying the moment here and I don’t think it is a good moment to talk every week because it’s better they (Barcelona) forget about him a little bit about Andre!

You go there in the right moment. Andre is enjoying his time but we don’t want to put this pressure of a decision on him. It is early.

At the end of the season we will talk to the players and with the clubs and after then we will take the decision or not.

Gomes was arguably Everton’s star man in Saturday’s 1-0 win over Cardiff City, as Silva’s men jumped to sixth in the Premier League table.

The 25-year-old will be a key figure when the Blues head to Anfield on Sunday for a much-anticipated Merseyside derby against Liverpool.

matchday.
