Everton have released an official photo of their squad for the 2019/20 season on Twitter, and several fans have spotted some notable absences.
Marco Silva was fairly clear and straightforward in the summer over those players in the Everton squad whom he deemed surplus to requirements.
Players like Kevin Mirallas, Yannick Bolasie and Sandro Ramirez weren’t going to feature for the first team, and Silva was keen to move them on and to lessen the wage bill.
However, while those three all found exits, not every player on the periphery was able to find a new club before the European transfer windows closed.
Cuco Martina and Oumar Niasse are two such players who are still employed by Everton, although neither has come close to appearing in any match-day squad this season.
Martina has been relegated to the Under-23s set-up under David Unsworth, while Niasse has disappeared from the picture altogether.
Several Everton fans took to Twitter to react to the duos exclusion from the club’s squad photo.
