Milan make Everton target Fofana their number one priortiy

AC Milan are interested in signing Everton target and Saint-Etienne defender Wesley Fofana, according to Tuttosport (cited by MilanNews).

The Daily Star claimed a few weeks ago that the 19-year-old could become Carlo Ancelotti’s first major signing since his arrival at Goodison Park.

The report also added that a number of other clubs were interested in signing the centre-back, with Monaco, Milan, Stuttgart and RB Leipzig all said to be keen.

Now Tuttosport (via MilanNews) claim that Fofana is the Rossoneri’s number one target to reinforce the club’s backline.

Should Everton wish to sign the defender they may need to move with haste, as Stefano Pioli appears set on the young Frenchman.

Fofana is one of two teenage centre-backs that Everton have supposedly been looking at in recent weeks, and with Jean-Clair Todibo now having signed for Schalke, Everton may turn a sharp focus to Fofana and where his future lies.

Despite being young though, Fofana has shown that he has some experience under his belt, having played 12 times for Saint-Etienne in all competitions this season (WhoScored).

Everton’s defensive shortcomings in the way of having a thin squad depth in that position have been well publicised, and it would be in the club’s best interests to quickly decide whether Fofana is someone worth pursuing, and if so, the club should make their move.
