Mina steps up his recovery from a foot problem

Everton defender Yerry Mina appears to be edging ever closer to his return to full fitness.

The Colombian international has not yet featured for his new club following a big-money move from Barcelona, with a foot injury having kept him out of action in recent weeks.

However, Mina took part in full first-team training with the Everton squad on Thursday as Marco Silva continued to prepare his side for a testing trip to Arsenal at the weekend.

Everton’s defensive worries have been well documented throughout the early periods of the season and Silva will hope that Mina can prove to be a calming influence at the back for his new side.

Mina’s exceptional displays at the World Cup with Colombia caught the eye of many but Everton were able to fend off competition to recruit the towering defender.

With Arsenal in a rich vein of form, Silva will be desperate to have Mina available for his Premier League debut.
