Moshiri talk with players leaves Everton squad confused

Moshiri talk with players leaves Everton squad confused

Everton’s players were left confused by Farhad Moshiri’s decision to speak to them after training at Finch Farm on Thursday.

Moshiri had travelled to the Everton training ground to discuss Marco Silva’s future with the rest of the club’s board members, and they eventually came to the decision that the Portuguese coach had to go.

However, this seemingly caught the players off guard, as they hadn’t been told about this following their meeting with Moshiri.

The playing squad were asked to remain behind after training so that the club’s majority shareholder could address them, and while social media reports speculated that it was likely to be a dressing down from the Everton owner, it actually ended up being quite the opposite.

According to The Times’ Paul Joyce (via Everton Blue Army on Twitter), Moshiri didn’t mention Silva’s name during his meeting with the playing squad, instead asking them whether they needed anything from him to aid their performances.

With Marcel Brands also in attendance, the report claims that most of the Everton squad were left confused about the meeting, feeling as though it was a waste of time.

Due to Moshiri not mentioning Silva being sacked either, most of the players had assumed that Silva had not been sacked, and they were left to discover the truth when it broke later on in the evening.

This is yet again a situation that reeks of unprofessionalism from Everton.

Silva was said to still be a popular figure among the Everton players, so for them to find out that he had been moved on through Sky Sports or on social media is particularly pathetic on Everton’s part.

With every report surrounding yesterday’s antics, it is becoming more and more evident that Everton have some deep-rooted issues that sacking a manager will not be able to fix.
