Despite what some reports have claimed, Everton have reportedly not agreed to sell Henry Onyekuru to Monaco, with the Nigerian preferring a return to Galatasaray.
Everton fans are becoming very accustomed to contradictory reports this summer, and the situation regarding Onyekuru’s long-term future is just the latest in a line of similar situations.
It had been reported earlier this week that the Toffees were close to agreeing to a deal that would see Onyekuru join Monaco permanently, having failed in their attempt to get him a UK work permit for the third time.

The Nigeria international joined the club in the summer of 2017 from Eupen, before returning to Belgium to spend the season with Anderlecht. Having failed to get a work permit the following summer, the 22-year old moved to Galatasaray in the Turkish Super Lig.
Now reports have linked him with a move to Monaco, with Everton reportedly keen to cash in and move on from the situation. However, according to Ajansspor (as reported by Sport Witness), Everton have not reached an agreement, and neither does Onyekuru want a move to the Stade Louis II.
Having won two trophies with Gala last season, Onyekuru wants to return to the Turk Telekom Stadium – a decision he has apparently informed Everton of.

Everton have been in similar situations before, where players just aren’t able to earn a work permit. As frustrating as it can be, sometimes it is better to let the player loose and move on, so long as the offer is right.
The Toffees are certain to make a nice bit of profit when they let Onyekuru go, and Onyekuru’s desire to return to Turkey could tempt Galatasaray to offer more than Monaco are willing to.
According to Ajansspor, there are more clubs involved too. Wolfsburg, Napoli, Atalanta and CSKA Moscow are all said to have submitted official offers, meaning that Everton could well have a bidding war situation on their hands, which can only be beneficial for the club who have become resigned to losing a top young talent.
