Onyekuru Monaco work permit due soon – Will Everton regret his departure?

Henry Onyekuru is still awaiting his French work permit before he can complete his transfer from Everton to Monaco.

The winger, who spent last season on loan with Galatasaray, looks set to leave Goodison Park on a permanent basis this summer, partly due to Everton’s consistent problem in earning the Nigeria international a English work permit.

Reports had suggested that Monaco were set to complete a €13million signing and that the player was keen on moving to the Stade Louis II, that hasn’t yet gone through, although it doesn’t appear far off.

According to Yahoo Sports FR journalist Manu Lonjon, Onyekuru could receive his work permit by this weekend, enabling him to complete his permanent transfer away from the Toffees.

I maintain that it is a huge shame that Everton will lose a player of Onyekuru’s talent without getting to see him play in their shirt, all due to convoluted work permit laws.

t’s a shame that we won’t get to benefit from the major coup Onyekuru originally was, having signed for just £7million with Everton having beaten a number of elite opposition to his signature.

However, accepting that the winger is set to depart, I’ll be glad to see him leave at the weekend, with the club eager to shed as much deadwood as possible in order to balance the wage bill. Hopefully he’ll impress in France.
