The PFA has highlighted Everton winger Tyler Dibling’s efforts to give something back to the grassroots community where his own football journey began.
Dibling has used his growing profile as a Premier League footballer to support young players in Devon through the Tyler Dibling Legacy initiative. The players’ union praised the 20-year-old for using his position to help create opportunities through football.
“A Premier League star with a passion for giving back,” the PFA said on X. “Everton winger Tyler Dibling is using his platform to support his community, helping build brighter futures through football.”
Dibling returns to where it started
The initiative has particular significance for Dibling, who joined Millwey Rise as a five-year-old and spent two years playing for the Devon club before his career took him into academy football.
His father Sam coached Millwey Rise’s first-ever youth side, with Dibling playing for him at Under-7 level before progressing towards the professional game.
That connection was celebrated on 30 August when the first Tyler Dibling Legacy Tournament was staged at the Millwey Rise youth pitches in Axminster, described by organisers as the place “where it all started for him”.
The free community event brought together teams at Under-8, Under-9, Under-10 and Under-11 level. Dibling attended to officially open the tournament and spend time watching the young players. There were also activities and competitions staged away from the matches.
For a player who only turned 20 in February, it is an impressive commitment to the community that helped him take his first steps in football.
Dibling is still establishing himself at Everton following his move from Southampton. The PFA’s recognition shows that his growing profile is already being put to use away from the Premier League spotlight.
Fair play, lad.
