Rooney set to sign for Everton

Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney is set to sign for Everton a free transfer, according to The BBC.

It is claimed that a deal is very close and Everton expect to announce the deal in the coming days.

Everton have ironed out a move with Manchester United, likely linked to Romelu Lukaku’s proposed transfer to the Red Devils.

Lukaku is closing in on a £75m move to Manchester United over the weekend, with Rooney seen as a softener in the deal.

Rooney has been heavily linked with a return to Everton but there were concerns over how the deal would be completed.

There was talk of a loan move, but that has been quashed with United waving a fee so that Everton can clinch the signing for free.

Rooney is said to be on £230k-per-week and confirmed earlier this summer that Everton would be the only club he would leave Manchester United for.

This is despite being linked with big money moves to China and the MLS.
