Sam Allardyce eyes January move for Steven N’Zonzi

Sam Allardyce is looking to add a midfielder to his squad in January and, according to Ken Dyer of the Evening Standard, he has made Sevilla’s Steven N’Zonzi a top transfer target.

N’Zonzi played under Allardyce back at Blackburn and he tried to get him into his England squad during his short reign in charge of the national team as there was a thought that the midfielder might have been eligible due to his residency in the UK, but it was ruled that he was ineligible.

The 28-year-old has fallen out with coach Eduardo Berizzo and is apparently up for sale. He had an argument at half-time of Sevilla’s Champions League clash with Liverpool, which resulted in him prematurely leaving the stadium.

He has since accused Berizzo of favouritism towards other players and he has skipped a training session too.

He flew into London earlier this month with rumours rife that he was there to discuss a move to Arsenal. He denied that at the time and as it stands, it looks like he has yet to decide his future club.

West Ham are also interested in him but there is unlikely to be a bidding war as the Frenchman has a buy-out clause of £35.2million, so it could be a case of any interested club stumping up that fee and then it’ll be the player’s choice.
