Sam Allardyce on why he let Ademola Lookman leave on loan

Everton youngster Ademola Lookman joined German club RB Leipzig on loan until the end of the season, even though  Toffees boss Sam Allardyce said he was reluctant to let him go.

The 20-year-old, who joined from Charlton Athletic, has only seen a limited amount of game time, appearing in just 16 games, with a large chunk of these coming of the bench.

He featured in a range of different competitions but has struggled to really gain a sustained run of games in the side, which has prompted him too move on and find a short term solution.

The deal runs until the end of the season and will allow him to come back full of first team experience.

Allardyce spoke about the situation following the move.

I was reluctant but he insisted. Rather than have a player who was going to have the wrong attitude around the place it was better he was off to play more first team football.
