Everton looked to be in pole position to land Malaga striker Sandro Ramirez this summer, but it looks as though the former Barcelona man is keen on a switch to Atletico Madrid.
According to a report from Estadio Deportivo out in Spain, as cited by Sport Witness, Diego Simeone’s men are seriously looking to bring Sandro over to Madrid providing that their ban on signing players in the upcoming window is lifted.
Everton’s interest in Sandro has been well documented over the last month and it appeared as though they were leading the chase to sign him, fending off interest from a plethora of Premier League clubs.
However, the player himself is stated to be keen on remaining in his homeland and if Atletico come calling, he’s unlikely to remain at Malaga.
The 22-year-old has a lowly release clause of just €5m, so it may definitely prove to be a chance missed for Everton.
