Seamus Coleman Backs David Moyes

Everton full-back Seamus Coleman has backed former boss David Moyes after he was sacked from Real Sociedad on Monday, following an awful start to the La Liga campaign.

After just under a year as manager, Moyes was dismissed from the club, with The Royals currently sitting 16th in the league table.

However according to the Liverpool Echo, Coleman believes his former boss will not be short on offers. Coleman made is name under Moyes at Goodison Park during their time together at the club and had this to say after training with Ireland on Monday:

He was great with me since he took me from Sligo Rovers with the help of the scout. He taught me a lot about the game. He was a tough operator, but he was fair…I was delighted to see him get the (Manchester) United job and I am disappointed at how the last 18 months has gone for him because he is a great manager and I have seen that at first hand.

Moyes previously managed Everton from 2002-2013 and it appears that he was well received by the players.

Any of the lads who have been at Everton for a while under him only have good things to say about him. I’m disappointed for him, that’s all I can really say.

Eusebio Sacristan, former Barcelona assistant coach, has been named as Real Sociedad’s next manager. He has been handed a deal that runs until June 2017.

It is yet to be seen where Moyes will land next, however multiple sites have linked him with Championship side Bolton Wanderers.

matchday.
