Sidibe’s representatives spoke to Milan about a transfer last month

AC Milan are still interested in signing Djibril Sidibe, with Le 10 Sport reporting that the Frenchman’s representatives met with the Italian club as recently as last month.

Everton signed the 27-year old defender in the summer on a season-long loan from Monaco, with the Toffees possessing a permanent option on the full-back believed to be around €14million (Goal).

Calciomercato then reported in October that AC Milan had targeted Sidibe ahead of January, with suggestions being made that Monaco could re-call Sidibe in order to sell him to the Serie A outfit.

The Liverpool Echo quickly rubbished these reports by revealing that Monaco don’t have a January re-call option, although it was never dismissed that Milan held an interest in the World Cup winner.

Now Le 10 Sport claim that Sidibe’s representatives held talks with Milan about a future transfer, with discussions having taken place less than a month ago.

Sidibe spoke to L’Est eclair a few months back, claiming that he wouldn’t be rushed into making a decision over his future, and he also declared that he would “have [his] say” when negotiations begin in the summer, should Everton elect to take up the permanent option in Sidibe’s contract.

As Italy’s joint-second most successful club, it isn’t hard to see how the Rossoneri could be appealing to the French full-back, although the club’s current league position doesn’t suggest that they are currently any better that Everton, with Milan in 10th and far outside Europa League spots.

Sidibe has made 17 appearances in all competitions this season (Transfermarkt), assisting five goals, and his performance levels have certainly suggested that he is someone worth keeping at Goodison Park. Both Seamus Coleman and Sidibe have made 14 Premier League appearances this season, with WhoScored giving the Irishman an average league match rating of 6.62, while Sidibe’s average league match rating stands considerably higher at 7.14.

Sidibe’s presence has often been felt in a positive way on Merseyside this season, and should Everton be able to finance a permanent deal for the full-back, they should work on convincing him that Goodison Park is the best place for him to be.
