Silva confirms duo are to fit to play against Cardiff

Marco Silva has confirmed that Gylfi Sigurdsson and Andre Gomes are fit to play against Cardiff this weekend but has not revealed whether or not that they will start.

Radio City News tweeted this from Silva’s press conference ahead of their home fixture against newly-promoted Cardiff City tomorrow:

Sigurdsson was injured when he clashed with Jorginho when they last played against Chelsea just before the international break. Gomes also picked up a knock in the same fixture.

The injuries left the pair unable to feature for their countries during the international break, and it seems it has enabled them to rest and recover in time for their fixture this weekend.

If he plays, Sigurdsson will be wanting to add to his impressive start to the Premier League campaign as he currently sits on five goals in 12 games, and also has two assists.

Gomes, who signed on loan from Barcelona last summer, has only made four appearances for the club so far, all coming in the Premier League.

matchday.
