Silva – “I want to achieve at Everton”

Marco Silva has revealed his hopes for the Everton ‘project’, as he has described it.

The Portuguese tactician is now five months into his tenure at Goodison Park, and has given fans a peek behind the curtain of his goals in the position.

Quoted by the Daily Mail, Silva said:

When I spoke to the owner we both agreed that we have a long project here and we have to do it step by step. We have to build a club to be competitive in the long-term.

I want to achieve important things here and win, of course. I have only one way to work and that is 100 per cent focus and commitment. That is what drives me and please understand that I was like that at my other clubs too.

Silva’s recent managerial career has been characterised by short stays and difficult relationships with owners, something he acknowledged in the interview.

I understand the point you make, of course. These last years I have not stayed more than one year at a club. But when I started as a manager (at Estoril in Portugal) I was there for three years and we did amazing things. It was a project. That is what I want to do here.

How long Silva stays at Everton remains to be seen, but the Toffees faithful will be hoping for a long and successful reign from their new manager.

matchday.
